Funding and Access Support
I have over 10 years of experience writing and shaping successful funding applications, helping individual artists and arts organisations raise nearly £1 million in total, including:
- 4, 5, and 6-figure grants from Arts Council England
- 3-year PhD scholarships and related stipends
- A-N bursaries
- Grants from Garfield Weston, GLA, and local councils
I have also run funding advice sessions on behalf of the local council, providing advice and feedback on draft funding applications to local artists, charities, and community and volunteer-led organisations, who have then gone on to make successful applications. I also have experience writing post-grant reports.
I can provide one-to-one advice and mentoring on your funding application, and provide bid-writing services, please contact me for rates.
If you are applying to Arts Council England, I can act as your Access Support Worker (see below).

Arts Council England: Access Support
I support artists as an access support worker. If you wish to apply for Arts Council funding (DYCP or NLPG) and have access needs, or face any other barriers to making an application, you may qualify for access support from ACE. Barries to access might include: disabilities, neurodivergence, and other differences, or needing support to use ACE's online system. You do not need any kind of formal or clinical diagnosis to request access support from ACE - you can self-ID and ACE will not ask for 'proof'.
Arts Council England will provide applicants small pots of money for access support before making an application. In other words, ACE will pay someone (like me!) to provide you with tailored access support with your application at zero cost to you.
As your Access Support worker I can:
- Help you think through and shape your project, and your aims and outcomes
- Help you to understand and breakdown application guidance
- Advise on project planning, timelines, budgets, and working with partners
- Provide feedback and suggestions on draft applications, including spelling and grammar
- Help you input your application on ACE's platform, Grantium, which can be challenging to use.
Everyone is different, but I always suggest the following approach as a starting point:
- An initial 30 mins meeting with me (online or on the phone), to discuss your project and your needs
- Based on our meeting, I'll draw up an outline of how I'll support you
- Complete ACE's online eligibility form for access support - we can do this together or I can do it on your behalf
- When ACE agree to provide access support, we'll use the outline as a guide, adjusting if necessary
- Submit your application
Please get in touch to discuss your needs and your project.

Funding Testimonials
"Just to say BIG thank you for help with the bid, they awarded us £10,000. Great to build a relationship with them and next time will go for a multi year grant." SLiDE Dance
"I would highly recommend working with Charlotte. I worked with her on an application on behalf of MOSS (Makers of Stuff Squad) who self-describe as an artist collective of learning disabled artist who live and work around Croydon. It was a fund to create a legacy public realm project centred around MOSS telling their own stories. I hadn't written a funding application before and Charlotte not only took me through the whole process, and helped me rewrite the application so it had an chance of being successful, but also helped me consider other elements I hadn't known about, like having support for access needs. She was dedicated, brilliant at spotting small details, and just brilliant to work with. We ultimately were successful and that is down to Charlotte's support." MOSS Programme Lead (ACE NPO).
"Very useful, thank you very much. I don't think I would have got the funding without the support." Independent artist
"Was really great to meet Charlotte and talk about funding options/funding advice. Very helpful and would definitely book a 1-2-1 again." Independent artist
